Hakeem Nicks will not play Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, the New York Giants announced via Twitter Wednesday afternoon. Nicks did not travel with the team on Wednesday.
More information on this if and when it becomes available. Most likely, though, this is not a new injury but rather a continuation of the issues Nicks faces as he comes back from breaking his foot during the offseason.
Despite making 10 catches for 199 yards and earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors Nicks did hobble off the field several times Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Most likely this is just a case of the four-day turnaround not being enough time for Nicks to recover enough to play again. Just another reason to despise Thursday night games.
The Giants will also be without Domenik Hixon (concussion) Thursday. That likely puts Ramses Barden in the lineup and makes Reuben Randle the third receiver.
Running back Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) and offensive tackle David Diehl (knee) are also out.
