New York Giants News And Notes: Will Beatty, Hakeem Nicks And More

Will Beatty was not on the injury report the New York Giants listed on Wednesday, the first time this season last year's starting left tackle has not been considered "injured."

"I feel great. Not on the injury report, so that's a plus, a step forward and the rest is up to coach. I've just got to make sure that my practice gives them confidence, so if they have confidence in me in practice, they'll put me in the game," Beatty said on Wednesday.

Head coach Tom Coughlin has continued to be cautious about Beatty, saying only "we'll see how fast he comes" when asked if Beatty could reclaim the starting job on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coughlin had previously been non-committal about whether Beatty, when deemed ready for full-time duty, would return to the starting lineup.

Hakeem Nicks still being cautious with foot

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks did not practice Wednesday as he and the team continue to be careful as Nicks continues his recovery from a broken foot. Nicks said he will skip some practice days "Until they decide to do something different. They don't want to have any setbacks on it."

The fourth-year receiver said missing practice won't impact the way he plays.

"When I'm in the game, I know my mentality. I'll approach the game like I always approach it. I'm going to dig deep. I'm going to fight through it, and play hard, regardless," Nicks said.
