Running back Derrick Ward announced on Twitter that he is retiring from the NFL.

Ward, who spent eight years in the league, was drafted by the New York Jets, but also spent time with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans in his career.

The former seventh-round pick ran for a career-best 1,025 yards with the Giants in 2008.

"Tom Coughlin’s got another 15, 20 years in him,’’ Perkins told The Post. When that remark was met with laughter, Perkins quickly added, "He does. He works out, he takes care of himself, he feels good. He’s a great coach, and I mean it. He’s got 15 or 20 more years in him. And he is totally wrong if he starts thinking of retirement, in my opinion.’’
