New York Giants News and Notes: Eye of the Storm Edition

Good morning fellow Giants fans. It's Hump Day, the day before training camp, and time for the Hump Day calendar--there are just six weeks until the start of the 2012 NFL season. Seriously, does that not seem surreal to anyone else? Meanwhile, let's see what else is happening as we're in the eye of the storm, just before camp begins....

Osi Umenyiora of New York Giants says Tim Tebow of New York Jets "sets an outstanding example" -
Osi Umenyiora has caught Tebow Fever, too. The Giants defensive end, upset by recent accounts of his fellow NFL players getting into trouble with the law, told reporters yesterday new Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow "sets an outstanding example." "I think if more people would focus and try to be like him and carry themselves the way he does, I think this league could be better," said Umenyiora, who was speaking at M&M’s World in Times Square, where he was helping unveil the candy’s new personalized printer.

Ten burning questions: Repeat Giants, Luck or RG3, Mile High Manning? - NFL - News, Rumors, Scores, Stats, Fantasy

"I’m not used to that, not having a catch in a year,’’ Jernigan said. No, he didn’t have a single catch. The Giants didn’t expect miracles from their 2011 third-round draft pick, but they figured Jernigan would get his hands on the ball once in a while.

Really?? Yeah, because you can never have enough nice cars in your driveway.

Three "Trap" Games on the NY Giants' 2012 Schedule: Fan's Take - Yahoo! Sports
The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants have the toughest schedule in 2012 (opponents had a combined winning percentage of .547 last season). Thus, they can't afford to take any games for granted this season. That's easier said than done, of course, so here's an advanced warning to Big Blue: Don't fall into the trap and overlook these three opponents!

Cincinnati? Carolina? Those are barely trap games.
