Defensive end is on the agenda today as we continue rolling through our Big Blue View Preason All-NFC East team.
Here are your nominees. The more I looked at this It comes down the ends from the Giants and Eagles, so the Cowboys and Redskins -- who each play the 3-4 -- are not represented.
Jason Pierre-Paul, Giants -- Named All-Pro a season ago after compiling 16.5 sacks, 93 tackles and a safety. In his third year, JPP should just keep getting better. His Pro Football Focus rating a season ago was +30.3.
Justin Tuck, Giants -- Giants fans know they did not see the best of the bruised and battered Giants' defensive captain a season ago, when he registered just five sacks and 41 tackles, well off the 1.5 and 76 he had in 2010. At 29, Tuck should still have some prime years left if he can stay healthy.
Osi Umenyiora, Giants -- Umenyiora does not like being called a pass-rush specialist, but that is really what he is. And he is still among the best in the business at it, as his nine sacks in nine games played a season ago proved.
Trent Cole, Eagles -- Had 11 sacks a season ago, the fourth time in five years he has had at least 10 sacks. The 29-year-old two-time Pro Bowler had a league-best +40.4 PFF rating among defensive ends last season.
Jason Babin, Eagles -- Overshadowed some by Cole, but has been named to the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons. In 2011 he registered a career-best 18 sacks and forced three fumbles. His PFF rating was +23.2.
