New York Giants News and Notes: Ten Days Away from Camp Edition

Good morning fellow Giants fans. No, this isn't your Hump Day countdown. I am merely pointing out that training camp for the Giants opens a week from Thursday. Football talk is really going to be in the air, and we're talking more than when players spout off at promotional appearances, write books or the one Tom Coughlin loves--getting in trouble (which, knock wood, has not happened since David Diehl got drunk and stupidly got behind the wheel). Anyway, that does mean we are still in a slow news zone, but only for another week...

Ahmad Bradshaw was thinking ahead on Sunday. The two-time Super Bowl champion and Bluefield native talked about what motivated him to return to the area for a "signing event," and what he sees as his role and those of other running backs on the roster of the world champion New York Giants.

Marshall native, NFL legend proud of Ark-La-Tex honor - Longview News-Journal: Sports
He’s a seven-time Pro Bowler, a three-time All-Pro selection, a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player and had his No. 14 jersey retired by the New York Giants. He was even the first professional football player to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, but a recent bout of recognition has legend and Marshall’s own Y.A. Tittle grinning from ear to ear. Tittle is one of five who will join a group of 118 past inductees as members of the Ark-La-Tex Sports Museum of Champions at a 7 p.m. ceremony on Aug. 4 in the Shreveport Convention Center.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz enjoying success -
A few days ago Victor Cruz ran into Vernon Davis, the 49ers’ dynamic tight end, and the two exchanged pleasantries. That is one subtle example of how the life of Victor Cruz, in one year, has changed so dramatically.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning comments on Saints' pay-for-performance program - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News -
Manning spoke Friday during a media session at the Manning Passing Academy, held at Nicholls State University. "Obviously, it's big news for the Saints and around New Orleans," Manning said. "I still keep up with what's going on. I think for the most part, from what I hear, there was a bounty. There was a system. It was going on. I think (NFL Commissioner Roger) Goodell and the NFL made the right decisions."

NFC breakdown: Dents in New Orleans Saints' armor - The Denver Post
While the Saints try to right their ship, look for the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants to remain NFC powers. The Packers won the Super Bowl that closed the 2010 season and were 15-1 last season before being upset by the Giants in the playoffs. The Giants won the Super Bowl for the second time in five years.

Wow, did someone actually put the Giants up there where they belong? Uh-oh. We actually do not want that to happen too much.

Victor Cruz Must Have Entenmann’s Doughnuts in His House at All Times -- Daily Intel
When's the last time you drove a car? Two days ago, to a 7-Eleven. I was running out of doughnuts and I had a craving. I always have to have a six pack or twelve pack of Entenmann's doughnuts in my house, no other brand. If Entenmann's is reading this, I like the glazed ones.

This stuff always interests me, but did they actually ask Cruz what his favorite medication is? Is that not dangerous territory?
