I opened Mike Freeman's post at CBS Sports entitled 'NFL's 10 Biggest Jerks' not expecting to find any New York Giants on the list. I did not, but I did find a huge surprise.

At the bottom of Freeman's post is his list of the top 10 good guys. You will never believe who tops the list. That would be none other than New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin. Yes, Tiki Barber, you can pick your jaw up off the floor now.

This is how Freeman explains putting Coughlin at No. 1:

'Yeah, that Tom Coughlin. This isn't just about his charity work. Jerks do charity work. This is about Coughlin's perseverance. Over the past few years, the only person who didn't fire Coughlin was Donald Trump. A handful of New York media were vitriolic and unfair, and Coughlin mostly kept his cool and should be a Hall of Famer."

Opinions about Coughlin certainly have changed. Remember the days when it was said no one wanted to play for him because of his crazy rules? Well, in some corners Coughlin might even be considered 'grand-fatherly' now. And I think you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would not want to play for a team that has two Super Bowl titles in five years.

By the way, you will get a kick out of this, too. In Freeman's estimation, who is the biggest jerk in the NFL? That would be Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is also on Freeman's list.
