Stevie Brown Signing: Giants Ink Free-Agent Safety

The New York Giants have signed free-agent safety Stevie Brown, both Brown and his agent announced this evening via Twitter.

I don't anything about Brown, except that he is 24 and was a seventh-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2010. He played 15 games for the Raiders that year, and eight games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2011. He has one career start.

You wonder if this is another indication that the Giants are planning to move on without veteran safety Deon Grant, who is a free agent. The Giants had also previously signed another young safety, Chris Horton, who formerly played for the Washington Redskins. The Giants appear to be stockpiling competition for the backup spots behind Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips.
