Giants Get One Compensatory Pick

The New York Giants have been granted one compensatory pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the 36th selection of the fourth round (131st overall).

The Giants lost three compensatory free agents -- Barry Cofield, Kevin Boss and Steve Smith a season ago. They signed two -- Steve Weatherford and David Baas.

The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Green Bay Packers get four compensatory picks. The Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers get three.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.
