While I have been getting acclimated to life here in the media trailer I have to myself outside the Timex Performance Center, some of my good beat writer friends have working on the latest Osi Umenyiora news. And it's not good for Umenyiora.
The Giants have reportedly told Umenyiora's agent, Tony Agnone, that the window for him to seek a trade for the unhappy defensive end, is now closed.
Question is, where do the Giants and Umenyiora go from here?
Several teams had reportedly been interested in Umenyiora, but none would meet the Giants asking price, originally a first-round pick.
Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News speculated that Umenyiora may now use his surgically repaired hip as a reason for being unable to practice. If he does that, this situation will get even messier than it already is.
Umenyiora is owed $7.1 million for the final two years of his current contract, but has been adamant that he wants a new deal.
Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reported that the sides will meet this afternoon. If any official word comes out, I will let you know.
