New York Giants Afternoon Notes: Osi Umenyiora, David Baas, Domenik Hixon

Here are a few notes mostly courtesy of the New York Giants PR Department to tide you over until the Giants hold their first official practice this evening.

Osi Umenyiora is expected in camp tonight, according to a report just posted by Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger.

David Baas, the team's new center, wants everyone to be sure they get his name right.

"I'm David "Boss" and there is also Kevin Boss," Baas told reporters Saturday. "Everybody gives me the bass, but it's boss."

Baas also did not sound that worried about the short amount of time he has to learn the Giants playbook, or get acclimated to his new team.

"I know I'll be able to pick it up. I mean in San Francisco I had six different coordinators in six years and six playbooks," he said. "I have to come in here and I have to do a job. I'm going to do everything I can to gain the trust of my teammates, especially the offensive line, and show them that I deserve to be here."

I don't know Baas at all. I can tell you, though, that I like the mindset.

Domenik Hixon: 'I Feel 100 percent'

The wide receiver/kick returner said he feels completely recovered from the knee injury that cost him last season.

"We're just going to keep a close eye on it and make sure it doesn't swell up or have any setbacks. I feel 100 percent," he said.

Hixon said he was excited for the team's first practice.

"This is something I've been waiting 13 months for. I've been preparing and it's kind of like a dream come true all over again," he said.
