Good morning, New York Giants fans! Are you ready for another wild day as we rocket toward the beginning of NFL training camps? Let's get started with an early-morning notebook.
It looks like the market has clarified for New York Giants free-agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports broke the news this morning that the New Orleans Saints have traded Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins, meaning that unless a mystery team jumps into the hunt for Bradshaw the only remaining question is how much it will cost the Giants to keep him.
With no real leverage, at least in the form of another bidder, best guess is there is no way Bradshaw gets the $21 million guaranteed that DeAngelo Williams got to stay with the Carolina Panthers.
The Giants are working to re-structure the contract of their other big-name running back, Brandon Jacobs. He was set to earn a base salary of $4.65 million this season.
Teams can officially release players at 4:01 p.m. ET today, and there is lots of Twitter speculation that Jacobs could be let go if he and the Giants can't agree on a re-structured deal.
Speaking of players to get released, we know Shaun O'Hara, Rich Seubert, Shawn Andrews and Rocky Bernard will be set free by the Giants. Good friend Pat Traina is speculating that there could be one more player added to the list, though as of Wednesday night she had not confirmed it. I am almost certain I know who it is, but this one is Pat's news so I am not even going to put a name out there. Just watch for someone else to be added to the list at some point today.
The Washington Redskins have traded perennially disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to the New England Patriots. Should be entertaining to watch Bill Belichick try to get something out of Haynesworth.
Speaking of the Redskins, they dealt Donovan McNabb to the Minnesota Vikings in what was a whirlwind day for them.
