Potential UDFA Targets: Henry Hynoski, FB, Pittsburgh

No one has any idea at this point when teams will be able to sign undrafted free agents. We might as well, however, begin taking a look at some of the available players who would seem to fit with the New York Giants. Over the next few days we will do just that -- discussing maybe 10-15 names.

Pittsburgh fullback Henry Hynoski was one of the first players I wrote about back when I began doing prospect profiles leading up to the 2011 NFL Draft. When the draft process began Hynoski was looked at as one of the top fullbacks available. In the end, several other players passed him by and the 6-foot, 260-pound former Pittsburgh Panther is still available.

As of now, Bear Pascoe is the Giants starting fullback and there is no one coming to camp to even give the Giants the option of moving him back to tight end -- where he could fill another role as the true blocking tight end the Giants sorely lacked a year ago. There is also plenty of division still on whether Pascoe, who did a commendable job at fullback a season ago, is physically suited to play that position full-time.

NFL.com says Hynoski "isn't a punishing blocker," which ideally is what the Giants would like to have in a lead back. Mocking The Draft, however, had Hynoski ranked as its top fullback prospect heading into the draft, and most boards had him rated above several of the fullbacks who were drafted.

As I said, there isn't anyone else on the roster right now who even provides the Giants with the option to move Pascoe back to tight end -- or even to share training camp snaps at the position with him. Hynoski looks like the one remaining fullback who might be worth giving a shot.
