And just like that, the New York Giants' 2011 draft is in the books--unless of course, they make a trade to acquire one more pick, but that is not likely at this stage. The Giants just selected running back Da'Rel Scott of Maryland with their 7th round pick, 221st overall. Scott was clocked at 4.34 in the 40-yard dash, the fasted running back time at the combine. You may remember, too, that Ahmad Bradshaw was a seventh rounder, so maybe Jerry Reese and the Giants' scouts are hoping to strike gold again.
The 5-foot-11, 211-pound Scott was mentioned as a possible late first-rounder after that blazing 40-yard dash time, but just like with most of their selections in this draft, the Giants probably feel they have another steal here in Round 7.
Here is Scott's NFL Draft Scout.com profile, and it's worth noting that he amassed 2,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in his career at Maryland.
And hey, lookie here, I just found this tidbit about Scott from our own Ed Valentine on BBV.
Overall, I think pundits will rank the Giants as having an above-average draft. What do you all think?
