NFL Draft 2011, Round 6: Giants Select Tyler Sash, SS, Iowa

The New york Giants have just chosen yet another secondary player, Tyler Sash of Iowa, in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, with the 198th selection overall. Sash joins the Giants' top pick, Prince Amukamara to bolster a secondary that was improved in 2010 but that still was mediocre by NFL standards. Sash was a two-time 1st team All Big Ten Player (2009 and 2010).

Here is a nice summary from Hawkeye Beat about where the 6-foot, 211-pound Sash was projected for the draft:

Many different sports websites (Sporting News, Draft Bible) have Sash listed anywhere from a 3rd Rounder to a 5th rounder. Sash was a play-maker at Safety for the Hawkeyes and after his stellar Junior season decided to jump to the NFL. Sash is a great down hill tackler and defender and is best when just getting after the ball. He is knocked as not being the best man-to-man defender and is best suited for a Cover 2 NFL scheme.

And now I have to go see who the Giants take with the 202nd pick!
