The No. 6 selection on our list of the New York Giants' Top 10 Draft Successes since George Young's arrival in 1979 revitalized the franchise is a player taken in a round that no longer exists in the NFL Draft. Jessie Armstead was drafted in the eighth round of the 1993 draft, the 207th player taken that year. He became a five-time Pro Bowler, and we often refer to him as the last great linebacker drafted by the Giants.
Armstead, like Amani Toomer, is another player who provides us with a lesson in having patience with draft picks. He did have 3.5 sacks in his first three seasons, but started only two games in those first three years. He became a full-time starter in 1996, his fourth year in the league. From 1997-2001 he appeared in five straight Pro Bowls.
