We have not had a pick in our mock since Saturday morning. In the interests of moving things along I have jumped in and made this pick myself.
Analyst after analyst I looked at indicated Detroit would go cornerback here if the value with there, but with Prince Amakumara off the board to Dallas at No. 9 there isn't a cornerback worthy of the pick here. Next best thing for Detroit is to look for a long-term replacement for veteran left tackle Jeff Backus. After all, for better or worse the Lions are hitched to the seemingly brittle Matthew Stafford at quarterback, and they need to find a way to keep him in one piece.
