Giants By The Numbers: Defense

Continuing our breakdown of Michael Eisen's 2010 Overview By The Numbers let's look at some of the numbers surrounding the New York Giants defense.

  • In terms of yardage allowed, the Giants were seventh in the league. They surrendered 310.8 yards per game.
  • The Giants led the league in takeaways with 39. We also know they led the league in giveaways with 42.
  • The Giants' 46 quarterback sacks were their highest total since the 53 they collected in the 2007 Super Bowl year.
  • The Giants defense was the best on the league on third down, allowing a conversion rate of just 31.7 percent. That is something I truly was not aware of.
  • The Giants allowed 347 points, an improvement of 80 points from what they allowed in 2009.
