Hines Ward Would Like To See Plaxico Burress In Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said during Tuesday's Super Bowl XLV Media Day that he would love to have Plaxico Burress back as a teammate.

"How great would that be?" Ward said at Super Bowl XLV Media Day today. "For Plax to come back with the Steelers and help us win another Super Bowl, that would be a great story."

The Star-Ledger's Jenny Vrentas has the story, detailing that Burress and Ward played together in Pittsburgh for five seasons before Burress signed with the Giants as a free agent in 2005.

Ward said he would not lobby Steeler management on Burress' behalf if, as scheduled. he becomes a free man this summer.

"I'm not going to do that, because I’m not that type of guy," Ward said. "Who am I to tell the owner or organization what to go do? If that presented itself and the Pittsburgh Steelers did bring Plaxico back, I'd give him a big hug, and we’d be right out there playing together."

Somehow I can't imagine the Steelers organization agreeing with Ward. Maybe I'm wrong, but with all the winning the Steelers have done in recent years I can't see why they would bring in a potential distraction like Burress.
