Brandon Jacobs has been looking for a chance to carry the ball more often for the New York Giants. That chance is here with Ahmad Bradshaw having cracked a bone in his foot Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
"What would be better than the opportunity that he's going to get now? He's been clamoring for a chance. The chance is here," said offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.
Question is, what will Jacobs do with it?
"I'm looking forward to seeing the way he plays. I think he's going to respond very well. I'm excited about seeing him play," said Gilbride. "We'll see. I go by what I see, not by the conversations. I think in the past he's been physical. He's been a physical blocker. He needs to do that Sunday or we're not going to have much of a chance. I think he will."
Jacobs knows the opportunity is coming.
"I just want to go out and help the team as much as I can. I just want to go out and perform to the best of my ability and when the opportunity is presented, take advantage of it," Jacobs said. "I think that is what we have to do for all aspects of our game to work on offense. You run the ball well and you throw the ball well. You throw the ball well and you run the ball well. That is my goal, to go out there and help us provide a part of our offense that will help us win."
