New York Giants radio voice Bob Papa was on NFL Network today to discuss the state of the Giants in the wake of Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. You can, of course, listen to the full interview. I have some excerpts for you.
"Dropped passes in the game, breakdowns in protection in the offensive line and terrible run-blocking," Papa said. "It's hard to bill yourself as physical when you run for only 29 yards in an NFL game."
Papa defended Brandon Jacobs despite the poor effort running the ball.
"I gotta tell you, I thought Brandon Jacobs ran the ball hard last night. I thought all the Giants backs ran the ball hard," Papa said. "But when you take a look at what transpired in the blocking with the offensive line, whether it was a breakdown with the guards on a play, or the tackles or the tight ends ... I think if you brought Gale Sayers back they would have had a hard time running last night with the way it was blocked."
