New York Giants President and Chief Executive Officer John Mara has been appointed chairman of the Management Council Executive Committee/Labor and been appointed to a new committee by Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Mara succeeds Jerry Richardson of the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen as committee chairman.
The committee is the one that leads the CBA labor negotiations, and works on all player and owner labor-related issues.
Mara played a key role in helping reach an agreement during the NFL Lockout last summer.
In addition, Mara has been appointed to the NFL's new committee on health and medical issues that will be chaired by San Francisco 49ers owner John York. The Health and Safety Advisory Committee includes Mara, Jerry Jones, Rich McKay and Mark Murphy.
