Al DeRogatis.

DeRogatis was a defensive tackle for the Giants from 1949-52. He made two Pro Bowls and was once named All-Pro during that time.

His obituary in the New York Times states that DeRogatis' playing career was brought to a premature end at the age of 25 by a knee injury.

DeRogatis is known to many more for his excellent broadcasting career than his playing days, somewhat like former Giants' kicker Pat Summerall. His broadcasting career is detailed here.
