Giants by The Numbers: 2 is for ...

Raul Allegre.

The fact that Allegre gets the nod here tells you this number does not have an illustrious place in New York Giants history. Allegre, though, was a good kicker for the Giants from 1986-91, and was an important piece of the 1986 Super Bowl team.

Allegre's career stats.

One oddity about the number. Only one non-kicker or punter has worn it in a regular-season game for the Giants. That would be the otherwise forgettable backup quarterback Anthony Wright, in 2007.

[NOTE: Originally, I was going to try and list every player in team history who had worn a particular number. That task will prove impossible, so I will instead discuss the most notable players to wear a number.]
