Mock Draft Monday 4/12/10

Now that the dust has settled from the Donovan McNabb trade, the mock drafts seem to have settled on the Redskins taking Russell Okung, which really doesn't have too much of an impact on the Giants draft, since Okung was almost certainly going to be gone by the time the Giants picked anyway, and many mocks already had him going to the Redskins. The other big trade with draft day ramifications, Santonio Holmes to the Jets, shouldn't have much of an impact on the Giants, either, unless the Steelers use that extra pick to move into the top half of the draft and take someone the Giants were coveting. Since the mocks don't take that possibility into account, there really isn't much shakeup for the Giants potential targets as we enter the home stretch.

Also, for those of you who are interested, SBN has been running it's own mock draft, and Ed let me make the selections for the Giants. In the first round, McClain was gone so I went with DE Derrick Morgan (more coverage here.) In the second round, I took DT Brian Price (more coverage here), who had been linked to the Giants in the first round for so long. I know some might quibble with taking two defensive lineman with the first two picks, and I was a bit uncomfortable with it myself, but ultimately if that's how the draft shakes out, I think it's what the Giants have to do. Getting Price in the second round would be a steal. Hopefully it works out that they can get McClain in the first and Price will be there in the 2nd to shore up the LB's and DL.
