BBV Community Mock Draft: With 23rd pick, Packers select ...

Playing the role of Green Bay Packers general manager, Dan Luibil writes:

This was tough because of offensive line and defensive needs. However, Spiller gives them a much more dynamic runner to pair with Ryan Grant. Spiller is a big play threat who had five return touchdowns last year to go with 12 rushing, 4 receiving, and 1 passing. He is the top ranked back in this class for a reason and probably the best player available at this point in this draft.

Although they are returning all five starters from the offensive line, the Packers would really like some help here. Anthony Davis has great size and is very tempting, but there are too many character and lack of effort concerns surrounding him. Maurkice Pouncey is a highly touted center prospect who deserves some thought as well, but this seems a little early for him. Pass rush to replace Aaron Kampman and youth in the defensive backfield is also desired, they too will have to wait another round.

My take: Finally! 'Free' will be happy. Someone has grabbed Spiller. And everyone except 'Bye Dawk,' should be happy -- since he already let me know Spiller is the guy he was going to grab for the Eagles. This is a great pick for the Packers, even if only because it means the Eagles don't get Spiller. Actually, the value is just too good for Green Bay to pass up here. As much as I'm not a guy who loves taking running backs in the first round I can't believe Spiller lasted this long in our mock.

'Bye Dawk' is now on the clock with the Eagles selection at No. 24.
