Our New York Giants travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings next Sunday, so we might as well start talking about it now. Will old Grizzly Adams, err Brett Favre, be playing quarterback when the two teams line up?
Favre threw only one pass (an intercepted one at that) before leaving with a sprained shoulder Sunday as Minnesota routed Buffalo, 38-14. Tarvaris Jackson went 15-of-22 for 187 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in his place.
So, will Favre, 41, make his 298th career start this Sunday against the Giants? He doesn't know.
"If we were talking ankles or elbows, thumbs or something like that, I would probably be a little more up to date on how to deal with it," Favre said after the Vikings beat the Bills, 38-14. "First time in 20 years I have ever done anything like that, so it is kind of surprising."
By the end of the week I am guessing we will be tired of talking about this. Shoot, talking about Favre got tiresome years ago. It's out there, however, and it will be a question all week. So we might as well put it on the table.
Jackson, incidentally, is not expecting to start.
"Brett is going to push to play Sunday," Jackson said. "You know the type of player he is. He’s played 15,000 games straight now. Probably 15,001 next week."
