Short of benching Eli Manning, about the most dramatic move New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin could make to deal with the team's turnover issues is benching fumble-prone running back Ahmad Bradshaw.
Per Mike Garafolo, TC has now done exactly that.
"The No. 1 consideration is to try to stop beating ourselves," Coughlin said. "That's one area we should be able to improve. It's very frustrating not to improve in that area. .. "Why it [the switch] would be a total surprise to anybody is beyond me."
Bradshaw has fumbled six times this season. He fumbled a seventh time on Sunday, but a replay reversal bailed him out. The Giants overall are -8 in takeaways/giveaways, 28th in the league. The Giants have fumbled the ball 21 times this season, losing 14. Only three NFL teams have fumbled the ball more often, an astounding figure for a Coughlin coached team.
"If we would stop being our own worst enemy, then we would have a chance to go forward here and win some football games," Coughlin said earlier this week.
Good move? I think, honestly, this is something Coughlin absolutely had to do.
