The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Brad Childress after a 3-7 start. The final straw was a 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday. Childress has been replaced on an interim basis by defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.
This one has been brewing for a while, with Childress having engineered Randy Moss' ouster from the Vikings without the approval of ownership, his terrible relationship with quarterback Brett Favre and with the Vikings pretty much out of playoff contention.
You have to wonder if a Favre retirement might be the next domino for the disappointing Vikings. You know that he doesn't want to hang around and get beat up playing for a team that won't even make the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what happens in Minnesota the rest of the way, and what type of Vikings team the Giants face in a few weeks.
