Good morning, Giants fans. Not much breaking news in Giants land this week, but here's a few stories to tide you over:
- ESPN.com has published their first power rankings since the end of the season, and the Giants are ranked No. 3. The Steelers, Patriots, Eagles, and Colts are the other teams in the top 5. The Cowboys come in at 13, the Redskins at 19, and the Jets at 20, in case anyone's interested. Obviously these mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it's nice to see the Giants getting some love. Don't get too excited though - last year at this time the Steelers were ranked 7th and the Cardinals were ranked 17th.
-
Another piece on new defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan from cbssports.com. If nothing else, you've gotta love his confidence:
"I have to feel we have a very sound defense, maybe one of the best in the league," Sheridan said the other day. "Getting Osi back was a great thing, and signing the guys we signed during the UFA period was more than I could have hoped for."
-
Boomer Esiason recently interviewed Eli Manning, here are some of the highlights. I love Eli's honesty, especially when he calls out the owners a bit in regards to the expanding the season issue.
- I'm mostly linking to this so you can check out the pictures of the lingerie football league tryouts, but apparently the captain of the Philadelphia Passion, Jackie Danico, is a Giants fan, though she's trying to make nice with the Eagles fans of the area. For those who are interested, here's some more info (and more importantly, some more pictures) of Jackie.
- And finally, not exactly Giants news, but Bruce Springsteen will be playing the final concert at Giants Stadium on October 3 (which just so happens to be my birthday). I couldn't think of a more perfect person to play the last concert there. I know what I'll be asking for for my birthday!
