Good Morning Everyone, it’s Wednesday, and that can only mean one thing. Well, two things, actually. One, the work week has reached the halfway point for most of us, but more importantly, it’s time for Big Blue View to take a look at some of the stories making news around the NFL. Let’s get to it:
- Matt Millen is out as Detroit Lions President and GM, what took them so long?
- Ned Macey on ESPN.com says the Patriots aging defense is not equipped to carry Matt Cassel.
- First the Jeremy Shockey injury, now their starting guard has been suspended 4 games for steroid abuse. Tough times in New Orleans these days.
- The Rams have benched Marc Bulger and will start Trent Green this Sunday against the Bills.
- It appears Lane Kiffin is dying a very slow death as Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders.
- Alex Marvez has a list of coaches who are already on the hot seat. What a difference a year makes! Tom Coughlin is not on this list.
- Texans owner Bob McNair says one way or the other, Reliant Stadium should be ready to use for their October 5th game against the Colts.
- Sean Salisbury has ranked all 32 QB’s based on how they are playing right now. A year ago right now, Eli might not crack the Top 15.
- Browns coach Romeo Crennel is considering a change at QB.
- Six retired NFL players have agreed to donate their brains to help study the long term effects of concussions.
- Now that the season has begun, and players are actually playing games and not just making headlines, I am breaking the "Favre-Free" rule, at least for today. Mike Celizic of NBC Sports.com has an article stating what most people who aren’t Jet fans said when the trade was made: Brett Favre can't save the Jets.
