Newsday's Arthur Staple reports that the Giants will place long snapper Ryan Kuehl on injured reserve today to reach the 75-player roster limit.
That means that unless the Giants find a snapper on the waiver wire, the job of snapping for field goals and extra points will go to rookie defensive tackle Jay Alford.
Alford, who snapped at Penn State, admits that the double-duty hasn't been easy, especially since the faster pace of the NFL required an adjustment in his snapping style.
All I know for sure is that field goals make a difference in 3-4 games every season. I would rather not see the Giants use a roster spot on a pure snapper at this point, but if they aren't sure Alford is up to the task they better find somebody who is -- and fast.
