Some of the biggest names in the free-agent market have already come off the board.
ESPN reports that Nate Clements has reached a record $80 million deal with San Francisco. The 49ers also reportedly will sign safety Michael Lewis, the former Eagle who interested the Giants.
Linebacker Adalius Thomas is heading to New England, according to the Boston Herald.
So, what is going on with the Giants?
Colts running back Dominic Rhodes visited the team today, and Cardinals offensive tackle Leonard Davis is reportedly visiting Saturday (though I think Dallas is a heavy favorite to land him).
ESPN's John Clayton is also reporting that the Giants are the favorites to sign Colts linebacker Cato June.
The Giants have even been linked to recently released linebacker Joey Porter, formerly of the Steelers.
We shall see how all of this pans out. It's hard to know what or who to believe, and the rumors of who is going to visit where are flying fast and furious.
With Clements and Thomas off the board, however, it seems there won't be a big splash coming from the Giants. They'll work the second-tier crowd of free agents and see what ends up making sense.
