Houston Texans fullback Vonta Leach has signed an offer sheet to play for the Giants.
According to the NFL Network, it's a four-year offer worth $8 million. He's a restricted free agent, so now we will see if the Texans value him enough to match the offer.
This move seems a tad curious considering Leach has never carried the ball in his three-year career, and has caught only a handful of passes. Jim Finn has done a solid job at fullback for the Giants the past few seasons.
I don't know much about him, but Leach is a 250-pound former college linebacker with a reputation for being very physical.
It would seem the Giants would like to put a power fullback in front of the 265-pound Brandon Jacobs and the 220-pound Reuben Droughns.
I've reached out to our friends over at the Battle Red Blog that covers the Texans to see if I can get more info on Leach. I'll pass along anything I get.
