Pacman to be a Cowboy -- and I think that's just fine

Pacman Jones is going to be a Dallas Cowboy -- if Roger Goodell lets him back in the league, that is.

That is as good a reason as any to take a break from all my poetry/songwriting -- and Giants discussion -- and look at what is happening around the league as the draft approaches.

As for the Cowboys, owner Jerry Jones is continuing to turn his team into the old-time Oakland Raiders -- a halfway house for misfits.

He's got TO. He's got Tony 'Jetsetter' Romo, who might be more interested in getting a ring for Jessica than one for his team. Now he's got Pacman, the baddest of the league's bad boys. He's got a lame-duck coach in Wade Phillips, whose anointed successor is already on his staff.

Good luck controlling that mob, Wade! Jones has collected a ton of talent, but the Cowboys are still a mess -- a ticking time bomb waiting to implode. As Giants fans, I suspect we will enjoy the show.

Of course, over at Blogging The Boys they disagree.

From 'Grizz.'

Well, get ready for all the barbs from the rest of the league but who cares? If Pacman plays up to the ability he's shown in the past and he stays out of trouble - I know, insert joke here - then we'll be having the last laugh.

Grizz, you're a great blogger. But, if you think Pacman will stay clean you are simply acting like a delusional fan.

• The Bengals recently turned down two (yes, two) No. 1 picks for Chad Johnson. Why anyone would offer that much I don't know. Now, though, Johnson is threatening not to show up if the Bengals keep him. Ugly stuff, but entertaining as hell. Speaking of the Bengals, they got ripped by ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit.

• SI.com's Don Banks looks at the monster trade that sent Jared Allen from Kansas City to Minnesota.

• Could Daunte Culpepper wind up in Green Bay?

About that new platform. It will be unveiled here tomorrow. I seem to be having a little trouble lately getting my dates straight. Anyway, be sure to check it out.

No.1 pick for shockey
I wish teams would offer No.1 picks for Jeremey Shockey.  Although I could picture Chad Johnson being an addition piece to the badboys (cowboys)..

Heck
I'd take two #2 picks for Shockey. The Bengals are absolute fools for not taking that trade, especially since there's little chance of them being decent this year, especially if Ocho Cinco is being a distraction.

Listened to an interesting segment on the Colin Cowherd show the other day, basically Todd McShay has done a study going back a few years, and the teams that have been the best in the NFL (Pats & Colts at the top, but the Giants were one of the teams mentioned) have drafted often and have drafted well. Teams that trade away draft picks or make reach picks don't do well. I mean, it seems obvious, but he actually went back and retrograded all the drafts and the correlation was very high. I'd take picks for a player any time.

Agreed
Especially since Shockey isn't going to be playing with heart anymore. The reason for the giants being the champs is because they played with heart(increasing momentum). I heard the giants are almost over there payroll. I'm a newbie at following the payroll rules. However, getting rid of Shockey would then obviously provide Reese with more money to resign Eli, Burress etc.

Pacman
Jerry Jones has been trying to buy a team since Jimmy Johnson left. Pacman is just another piece to the puzzle that is Skeletor's. Who knows, if he's re-instated, maybe he'll beat TO's ass at training camp.
We didn't even have a chance for the "perfect season", but we did have the perfect ending.

T.O will then have a valid reason to cry,,
Although we should be against trash talking of the cowboys because look what to happen to them. (Talk is cheap) Since the boys' have always had big mouths and they haven't been to the super bowl in many years.. We should lay  low on the trash talking and let the G-men do there talking on the field!

Joe
I see what you're saying about trash talking. I didn't really perceive it that way, though.

This was my line of thinking....

TO has a big mouth and whines regularly - FACT

Pacman has issues, many of which have put him in the spotlight because of where he hangs out and who he hangs out with - FACT

While I was making fun of the potential situation, I don't really think that the scenario I was laughing about is that far - fetched.

So it wasn't intended to be 'trash talking', especially since TO is who he is and Pacman is who he is.

We didn't even have a chance for the "perfect season", but we did have the perfect ending.

signing pacman
just shows how desperate that franchise is.  im not going to lie, i might feel the same way if my team hadn't won a playoff game since the Spice Girls had the #1 album.

haha
that's awesome. Reminds me that last night I was fooling around on Wikipedia (I mean "studying"), and I found a list of the longest playoff droughts in the various sports. It lists longest playoff drought, longest Super Bowl appearance drought, and longest Super Bowl win drought. It felt SO good to see the Giants at the very bottom of every one of those lists, and to see the Cowboys towards the top of the longest playoff win drought.

BTW, for fans of other sports, it was interesting to see: I think the NFL's longest playoff appearance drought went back to 1998, the NHL's went back to 2001, and the NBA's went all the way back to...2004. MLB, by the way, has 3 teams that haven't made the playoffs since before I started following sports in 1991: Royals, Brewers, and Expos/Nats
