Brett Favre retires

Not that it affects us directly, but Brett has hung up the cleats. I think it's odd that this comes on the heels of Randy Moss being signed by the Pats. I think he wanted Moss badly and is probably disgruntled.
I admit I am surprised. I always thought of Favre as being one of those players that they'd have to cart off of the field before he would quit.
Maybe his drive has faded. Maybe he's angry at the Packers.
Regardless, he is an NFL hero of sorts, and I will remember him as being quite the gutsy quarterback with a 'never say die' mentality - even when he was injured. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Favre.

Love Favre

Will always be one of my favorites. I wish him the best. I have a feeling he will become one of these guys you don't see much of anymore. He always seemed like a guy who'd be quite comfortable living the rest of his life on his farm with his hot wife

I guess losing to the Giants was just too much to bear :)

I miss NumberFour & Terry....BigBlueView just isn't the same without some cocky fans telling us how badly their teams were gonna beat us in the playoffs. Although at least they came back and took their lumps: It's been a month an I'm STILL waiting for TruePatsFan to show his pathetic "face" on this message board. If he's such a wimp online, I can only imagine what he's like in real life...

i almost feel bad

that we beat them in the NFC championship. Oh wait.... for anyone who's seen borat... "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT"! Favre's a great QB, but its the right time to retire, to go out on a high note. The NFC North is anybody's now.

I have max respect for Favre and his

overall career, but it was pretty obvious to me in the NFC Championship game that he didn't want it nearly as much as Eli did. Favre looked more interested in crawling into a hot tub than winning that game. I give him credit for realizing that and moving aside at this point.

Of course, had the G-Men not recovered that fumble at midfield with 2 minutes to go, this whole conversation would possibly be going a little bit differently.

Sort of like if Assante Samuel had made that catch, had Jacobs not made that 4th and 1 in the last drive in the Super Bowl, had Rothlisdog not made that tackle after the Bettis fumble - so many huge things that seem obvious in retrospect could easily have gone the other way.

The ball bounces for and against your team several times each game. The interception (that bounced off Smith's hands) could have been a game turning point.

Yes, the playoff games against Dallas, Green Bay, and the Super Bowl, all included some really close plays that could have gone the other way.

Think about that wide open pass that the Dallas receiver (what was his name?) dropped - but then again think about the pass that Eli overthrew to Burris-

Every game is filled with plays that could have gone the other way - that's what makes it fun
