Taking offense to results of this mock
New Era Scouting has posted a seven-round mock draft. Purely from the Giants' perspective I could not disagree more with its current results.
New Era, you might recall, is run by Matt Miller, who also writes SB Nation's fine draft blog, Mocking The Draft.
Here is New Era's current Giants' draft.
1st round -- Jerod Mayo-LB-Tennessee
2nd round -- Roy Schuening-OG-Oregon State
3rd round -- Owen Schmitt-FB-West Virginia
4th round -- Tyrell Johnson-S-Arkansas State
5th round -- Antwaun Molden-CB-Eastern Kentucky
6th round -- Kerry Brown-OG-Appalachian State
7th round -- Jalen Parmele-RB-Toledo
That's four offensive players among the seven picks, including two guards, a fullback and a running back. The Giants don't need help at any of those positions, and I would consider those picks as very questionable.
Also, I simply can't see a draft in which General Manager Jerry Reese takes more offensive players than defensive ones. With the makeup of the current roster, that seems unlikely.
New Era also has one error in here. The Giants have two sixth-round picks because of the trade of Ryan Grant to Green Bay. They do not have a seventh-round pick, having dealt it to Kansas City for Lawrence Tynes.
I can't quibble with Mayo as the first-round pick. NFL.com's Vic Carucci also has the Giants taking Mayo in his current mock draft.
If he is the best player among the linebackers, safeties and corners on the board when the Giants pick, so be it. The rest of this mock, however, left me shaking my head.
Here's a Jerod Mayo scouting report from NFL Draft Countdown.
Weaknesses: Undersized and doesn't have either the ideal height or bulk that you look for...Has trouble taking on and shedding blockers...Needs to be protected up front...Just a marginal blitzer...Durability may be an issue...Probably not a good fit for everyone.
Notes: The next in a long line of top Volunteer linebackers...Can project inside or outside depending on the defensive scheme and has experience at both...Best fit may be as a middle 'backer in a Cover 2 or on the weakside...Not a traditional thumper but he will prove awfully attractive to teams that are willing to sacrifice some size for speed...He will draw comparisons to Al Wilson and those are reasonably accurate.

I could see the headlines if the Giants draft Mayo

i agree
i feel like they'll go some combination of LB, S, CB, OT with their first three picks unless a really talented WR falls into their lap.
