Let's take a look around on this glorious day to be a New York Giants fan and see what others are saying about Sunday's victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Let's start over at Blogging the Boys, where Dave Halprin is struggling to come to grips with the end of the Cowboys' season.

The Giants took that game. When they marched for a TD in under a minute to close the half they served notice they were here to play. In the second half, they just outplayed us, all with a bum secondary, another reminder of last year's playoff failure. The Giants wanted it more and they weren't the ones getting tight and playing scared football. They were better than us today and they proved it. They finished the game, they ripped the prize from our hands.

Looking back, Dallas did dominate the game statistically, but mistakes doomed the Cowboys.

The Giants did not engage Patrick Crayton in a war of words before the game, but afterwards they weren't shy in taking some shots at the Dallas receiver, who dropped two key passes.

One more note about the Cowboys, this one somewhat light-hearted. The New York Post says it hired a Jessica Simpson look-alike to sit behind the Cowboys' bench Sunday. Apparently, it worked.

New York Daily News columnist Mike Lupica points out that Eli is the last Manning standing, and says he did well by the family name on Sunday.

He is making plays. He is the one not turning the ball over, not against the Bucs, not against the Cowboys yesterday, on the day he played the Giants all the way to Lambeau. You don't have a defining moment in Tampa Bay against a mediocre Bucs team. You have it here, against the Cowboys.

Talk all about the defense and the job it did holding the Cowboys without a touchdown in the second half. Talk them up all the way to Lambeau. It doesn't happen this way if Eli doesn't take them down the field at the end of the first half the way he did, if he doesn't do it again in the fourth.

The Giants' defense came up big when it counted.

What's funny

is how that story talks about the Cowboys penalties and mistakes, but did anyone notice a good 5 false starts that simply weren't called on the 'Boys throughout the game?

Yeah

I commented on that here during the game. I couldn't believe they were getting away with those offsides so much.

I haven't seen any official word out there yet, but a fan that is a doctor commented on another site that the injury appears to be something that will heal with a couple of days off weights & some rest. Of course take that with a grain of salt.

No word yet on Ross.

Just a "shoulder injury". It was bad enough that he had the arm in a sling on the sidelines. Never a good sign.

Though Ross was quoted as saying he expects to play against the Packers. I also have to hope Madison is ready for at least some duty.

How ironic though

to think of Eli out on the field next Sunday, with big brother watching in street clothes from the team box. Never thought I'd live to see the day.

I won't say "sweet" cuz I like Peyton. Hopefully one day before it's over we'll see them square off in the Big One.

No rubbing it on Peyton, he's one of the best to ever play. But, this season I never thought Eli would still be playing after his brother was done.

he usually shits on the Giants, Knicks and Yankees whenever he gets the chance, yet made no mention of the Mets collapse or the Jets struggles.

I'll keep it short and say that

the only two negatives, other than the injuries, are:

We really left our defense on the field for too long there at the end, and
(relates to #1) We need a few more unpredictable plays when we're playing with a lead and little time left. Run, run, run is just too Dan Reeves for me.
Nothing wrong with trash talking AFTER a win. I couldn't have been happier or laughing harder that Crayton, aka FOS (you guess), dropped some key passes. Simply hilarious.

Is it that they were scared to put it into Eli's hands with a pass? I just don't know.

Time to turn Green Bay red. We shoulda danced on the star last night.

Agreed

It's not a day for negativity, but if Romo had gotten the Cowboys into the end zone on that last drive, we'd all be killing Coughlin/Gilbride for going ultra-conservative on those last two possessions. They had 2nd and short both times, and a play action might have been easy pickings. Instead they ran it both times to no effect. All's well that ends well, but I hope they don't take that approach if we're in a similar circumstance next week.

Run

I had no problem with the run, though the 2nd time I might have tried to pass at least once. The problem I had was going wide w/Jacobs. No way that works when Dallas is sneaking up, expecting run.

Agree

Jacobs has not been too effective when he runs wide. He would be fine if he hits the jets faster. Also, he needs to hit the holes with more explosiveness up the middle. He seems to stutter step, then falls down. If he would do this, he could run over defenders all day, and pick up atleast 5 yrds a clip.

Bradshaw would be great on the wideouts with his explosiveness.

Jacobs up the middle, Bradshaw everything else.

With point 2

What they need to do is develop the running game to the point where, at the end of the game, when everyone in the building knows that they are going to run, when the defense is playing the run, they can still find a way to come up with 10 yards.

I said to my wife yesterday

If one month ago you went into a Vegas Sports Book, what kind of odds would they have given you on Eli playing in a Championship game but not Peyton?

Totally agreed with that article. Not to take anything away from the grit and determination the Giants showed, but the Cowboys were a circular firing squad

has got to be dillusional. He has yet to win a playoff game..........playoffs?......playoffs?(insert squeaky Mora voice), yet he can do no better than to say the better team lost. Face it Wade my boy, the Giants wanted it more,your QB is not used to being hit so he and Terrell started crying together in the 4th quarter.
