Ward, Bradshaw, Grant impress

The competition for the third running back spot behind Brandon Jacobs and Reuben Droughns got a lot more interesting Saturday night.

Derrick Ward, Ahmad Bradshaw and even Ryan Grant made good impressions.

Ward has been with the Giants since 2004 and has mostly been an afterthought. A 67-yard kickoff return and 29 rushing yards showed he in intent on changing that, though.

Bradshaw had 19 rushing yards and showed the ability to be a good receiver out of the backfield with three catches. He did fumble at the end of the game, though.

Grant, a longshot to make the team, had a team-high 44 yards rushing.

It will be interesting to see which of those three can keep up the pace during the next couple of weeks.

I agree
Our running game was surprisingly good.  Grant, Bradshaw and Ward look like great prospects.  I guess one of them has to go?  Too bad.

The defense looked ho hum but maybe they will play better as the pre season goes on.  Bell and Joseph really have no clue.  I thought Tuck looked promising though.  Good thing because he may be our guy at DE.

Moss is going to be a play maker.  To me it seems every time he touches the ball he could be gone.

Defense
I do think the defense will look better once Spagnuolo gets the right people out there. Joseph has no business playing defensive end. None of the cornerbacks stepped up, and that bugged me some.

Make corrections
Seeing two of the Panthers TD's, it was just a matter of miscommunication on our defence secondary. We just need to correct those mistakes. The Giants are going to really look over the game film and make all of the corrections. Thats why we have preseason.
