Giants make offer for Briggs?

Scouts.com has reported that the Giants have offered the Bears a package including their No. 1 pick (20th overall) in this year's draft for unhappy linebacker Lance Briggs.

I am not sure what to make of this report. Giants GM Jerry Reese has steadfastly maintained that he does not want to trade any first-day draft picks, and trhis would obviously be a departure from that philosophy.

The Bears and Redskins have apparently been discussing a Briggs trade. Maybe this is a serious offer by Reese, maybe it's just a way of driving up the cost to the Redskins.

Either way, I find it highly unlikely that Briggs will end up with the Giants.

Preseason Opponents

The list of Giants' pre-season opponents has been released. Exact dates and times will be given later.

Week 1: (Aug. 9-13) vs. Carolina Panthers
Week 2: (Aug. 16-20) @ Baltimore Ravens
Week 3: (Aug. 23-27) vs. New York Jets
Week 4: (Aug. 31-Sept. 2) @ New England Patriots

The Giants open the regular season on Sunday night, Sept. 9, at Dallas. The game that will be televised nationally by NBC.

Haha! I don't really want him to tell you the truth. I think he's a malcontent, and I think he'll collect his big paycheck from whomever and then put it on cruise control. Last thing the Giants need is another locker room distraction.

Agreed here

and I don't think enough fans are taking that into account. Pro Bowls go a long ways among many of us, but this guy has demonstrated that he is only concerned with the dollar. Not even being on a Super Bowl contender plus 7+M changes that for him. That tells me enough about him right there.

If the 'Skins desparately needed a LB I may have a different opinion; we don't. We desparately need a pass rush, and Briggs' 3.5 career sacks isn't going to change that.
