Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Oakland wide receiver Drew Carter will miss the entire 2008 campaign with a torn ACL, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said in a conference call on the team's website Sunday.
Carter was expected to compete for the No. 3 wide receiver spot behind Javon Walker and Ronald Curry, but he came up lame after a reception in the first quarter in the team's 24-0 preseason loss to Arizona on Saturday and will miss the entire season.
Carter, 26, is coming off a season where he posted career-highs with 38 receptions, 517 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games with the Carolina Panthers.
Carter has played all three seasons of his NFL career with Carolina, accumulating 77 catches for 977 yards and eight scores.
Fullback Oren O'Neal suffered a season-ending knee injury in the loss as well.
