Recap: Indianapolis vs. Buffalo

Sports Network | August 24, 2008

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - J.P. Losman threw for 108 yards on 13- of-19 passes and Terrence McGee highlighted a terrific defensive effort for Buffalo with a 68-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, as the Bills downed the injury-plagued Indianapolis Colts, 20-7 in preseason action.

Losman started in place of Trent Edwards, who is nursing a thigh contusion, and regular contributor Lee Evans caught a game-high five balls for 44 yards for Buffalo (2-1). Xavier Omon rushed for a one-yard touchdown, and Rian Lindell made both of his field-goal attempts for the victors.

Colts (1-3) defensive stars Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders made their preseason debuts in the club's opening game at Lucas Oil Stadium, but there was not much to cheer about for the home fans. Third-string quarterback Jared Lorenzen got the start, as Peyton Manning is still recovering from off-season knee surgery and Jim Sorgi sat out for precautionary reasons.

Lorenzen completed 7-of-11 passes for 52 yards, while Quinn Gray tossed four interceptions in the second half. Joseph Addai led Indy with 23 rushing yards on five carries and topped the team with three catches that went for 16 yards.

Lindell's 36-yard field goal opened the scoring midway through the opening quarter and Omon's plunge into the end zone was followed late in the second half by McGee scooping up an Addai fumble and sprinting for a defensive TD.

Though Quinn struggled throughout much of the second half, he hooked up with Devin Aromashodu on a 94-yard bomb just before the start of the final period.

Lindell's 44-yard kick accounted for the only score in the fourth quarter.

The Colts had nine total first downs compared to Buffalo's 18.
