Fantasy Sleeper of the Week: Ahmad Bradshaw

I know it's not a stretch, but since Ahmad Bradshaw is recovering from a foot injury himself, much wasn't expected of him out of the gate in his return. But now with Brandon Jacobs nursing a knee injury, Bradshaw has the potential to play a lot on Sunday, and possibly put up some nice fantasy numbers.

It's also possible that in order to neutralize the Cowboys' fierce pass rush, Eli Manning may rely on his running backs to catch some short passes and try to make things happen in the open field. Of course, even if Jacobs plays, the short passing game is something more geared to Bradshaw (and DJ Ware). Additionally, the Giants will also try to control the clock and keep the ball away from Tony Romo and all of his weapons--so on paper, Bradshaw should have plenty of opportunities to rack up yards, catches, and hopefully a few touchdowns.

Fantasy Sleeper of the Week: Jake Ballard

The Packers score a lot of points. But their defense isn't exactly a steel wall. Furthermore, the Packers are ranked 31st in the NFL against the pass. What that means, for one, is that maybe our anemic running game won't matter. Actually we'll probably play from behind anyway, so that usually means lots of passing. But while you might expect Eli Manning and Victor Cruz to have big days, and maybe Hakeem Nicks if he is healthy (Mario Manningham is listed as doubtful), those guys would not really be fantasy sleepers against Green Bay.

Which brings me to tight end Jake Ballard. Assuming he doesn't have the dropsies like he did against Philly, Ballard is due for a big game. Couple that with the fact that Manningham is likely out, Nicks and Cruz are dinged up, and the Packers are not exactly a shut-down defense against the pass, in particular against tight ends, and, well, the makings are all there. I would venture to say we might see 75 to 80 yards and a touchdown or two for Ballard. And that makes him this week's fantasy sleeper of the week.

Fantasy Sleeper of the Week--Brandon Jacobs

Ahmad Bradshaw will sit for at least one more week, which means the big man, Brandon Jacobs, gets the call to start at running back again for the Giants on Sunday night.  Jacobs may not be one of the best options out there on a regular basis, but once again there are four teams on bye -- New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Indy and Houston (hey, did anyone else notice that the Saints have two weeks to prepare for the Giants?).  So if you have Darren Sproles, Rashard Mendenhall or Arian Foster, Jacobs is a good RB to plug in this week against the Eagles.

In Week 3 against the Eagles, Jacobs carried 7 times for 19 yards, and he also caught two passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.  Meanwhile, Bradshaw had 139 all-purpose yards and a score. The Eagles rank 17th against the rush and Jacobs seems to be running with more of a purpose as the starter.  So while I'm not saying Jacobs will put up Foster type numbers or even Bradshaw type numbers, he could very easily crack 100 all-purpose yards with a touchdown or two.

Fantasy Sleeper Of The Week -- Da'Rel Scott

This week's 'Fantasy Sleeper' for the New York Giants has to be running back Da'Rel Scott. With Ahmad Bradshaw out for the second straight week and the Giants possibly using Scott on kickoff returns this could be the week the speedy rookie from the University of Maryland makes an impact.

"With the injury to Bradshaw, we have had the opportunity to work him. That has been a good thing," said Giants coach Tom Coughlin. "If he gets some opportunities, I think he has had a couple good weeks in practice."

Scott has just one pass reception and one run for five yards so far this season.

"He's a good player. We've tried to get some things formatted for him and it just hasn't unfolded the way we wanted," said offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride. "When we called something that we thought would go to him it wound up going somewhere else because of what the defensive structure was."

Special teams coordinator Tom Quinn announced this week that either Scott or Danny Ware will take over kickoff returns duties from Devin Thomas

"He is fast so you would like to put the ball in his hands at some point," Quinn said.

So, opportunity is coming for the seventh-round draft choice. If you want to take a flier on a running back, especially if your league counts points for kick returners, give Scott a try.

Fantasy Sleepers: D.J. Ware, Ramses Barden

For New York Giants' fans, these two names I am about to toss out probably won't be considered sleepers. For most Fantasy Football owners, though, they are probably names that have not gotten much consideration.

Danny Ware and Ramses Barden. If you need a running back this week, Ware might be worth a flier. If Ahmad Bradshaw (cracked bone in his foot) does not play Brandon Jacobs moves up to the No. 1 running back slot. Ware, though, will likely see the majority of snaps on passing downs, and will get some carries.

With Hakeem Nicks apparently sidelined, Barden should also come off PUP this week. Since he has reportedly been practicing quite a bit with the first team this week you have to believe that if he is active Sunday he will be counted on to play quite a bit against the New England Patriots.

Both of these guys are worth a shot on your fantasy teams, even as one-week stop gaps.

Fantasy Football: Which Rookie Would You Want?

Yahoo! Fantasy Football supports SB Nation and pigskin awesomeness. It’s also the #1 Fantasy Football game thanks to dazzling player research, instant stats with free live scoring, iPhone, Android, and iPad apps this season. Plus, new scoring categories for long receptions and rush plays.

The Big Blue View Fantasy Football League has already held its draft. Shoot, we've already had a trade and a whole bunch of roster moves, too.

Here is my question for you fantasy gurus today. If you could have one rookie on your fantasy team roster who would it be? I know who it would be for me, but I want to hear what you guys think.

Fantasy Football Friday: Bears vs. Giants Preview

After telling you to sit Mario Manningham last week, hopefully I can bounce back with some better advice this time around.

Start

Giants Receivers: That's right, I'm suggesting starting all 3 of them. The Bears are 28th in the league in passing defense, and the Giants have shown that they're willing to abandon the run early so far this season. All three of the Giants receivers (Nicks, Smith, and Manningham) have been putting up pretty good fantasy numbers so far this year, and against a weak Bears secondary, this week should be no exception. Now watch Manningham reward me with this suggestion by not getting a single pass thrown his way...

Jay Cutler, QB, Bears: Cutler has thrown for 220+ yards and at least a TD in each game this year, and has 6 TD's overall to go along with only 2 picks. The Giants pass defense has respectable numbers so far this year (4th in the league against the pass), but part of that is because the only true passing threat they've played didn't have to pass against them because their run defense played so poorly. Cutler makes bad decisions, but he's got a big arm and if the Giants don't get a lot of pressure on him, he should have a big day.

Matt Forte, RB, Bears: Despite doing a respectable job against Chris Johnson, the Giants still ended up surrendering nearly 150 yards and 2 TD's on the ground last weekend. Forte is one of the better receiving threats out of the backfield, 14 catches for 202 yards and 3 TD's so far this season receiving. He's only averaging 2.9 yards per carry and hasn't been good running the ball, but do you really trust the Giants defense to shut him down? He's a good option if you're weak at running back or for a flex spot.

Eli Manning, QB, Giants: Expect his name to appear here pretty much every week. He's a legit fantasy QB, completing more than 65% of his passes and throwing for decent yardage. All but one of his 6 interceptions this year have bounced off a receivers hands first, so one of these weeks he's gonna hopefully cut them out completely and start piling up the TD's.

Sit

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Giants: The Bears run defense has been the best in the league so far, giving up only 39.7 YPG. Bradshaw has looked good so far this season, but he hasn't gone over 100 yards yet in any game, and has topped out with 20 carries in week one. He did catch 5 passes last week, but only 2 combined in the first two games, so he's not yet a reliable dual threat running back. Against a run defense this good, I'd probably bench him (unless, like me, you have no other options b/c your other running back has a bye this weekend and there's no good free agents...d'oh!).

Giants Defense: Cutler's interception prone, but then so is Vince Young, and the Giants didn't force a single turnover last week. Despite looking better against the run, they still gave up decent yardage and 29 points. Until TC gets this unit turned around on a consistent basis, they're just not a fantasy defense.

Bears WR's: The Bears don't have a true #1 receiver. In Mike Martz's offense, that works. For fantasy, it doesn't. Stay away.

Fantasy Football Friday: Giants vs. Titans Preview

Some of you might remember that last year, I ran a series every Friday previewing the upcoming Giants game from a fantasy perspective. I would say that the reason I'm starting it up again in week 3 this year is because you just don't know enough about the teams or the players until a few games are in the books, but the fact is I totally forgot about these previews until Ed reminded me, but they'll be running every Friday from here on out. Basically, I'll just be posting a start/sit preview for the Giants and their opponent. This week presents a tough challenge, as nobody knows what to expect from the Giants, and the Titans are coming off a game against one of the league's best defenses. With the caveat that nobody has any idea what will actually happen (aka, don't blame me if you follow my advice and lose!), let's dive on in:
