NY Giants should find a way to keep Osi and Mannnigham

Everyone who watched the Superbowl to the end saw what Manningham is capable of bringing to the table. He's an explosive receiver who big plays down the field. As mesmerizing as that catch was, he doesn't always seem to be on the same page with Eli Manning. That said, with Manningham, Cruz, and Nicks, the Giants passing attack has been very productive on offense. The three of receivers are as good as any trio you'll find in the NFL and have become unstoppable. You can ask Bill Belichick what he thinks about the Giants three wide outs. During the winning touchdown drive led by Eli, Belichick could be heard telling his corners to force Eli to throw to Manningham. Check out the clip here...http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/video-bill-belichick-implores-defense-giants-throw-mario-192504476.html.

Though Manningham disappointed earlier in the game when he was thrown to, he didn't disappoint when his team needed him at the most crucial part of the game. When Osi was out, we saw how defensive line struggled. When he came back, we saw how dominant the defensive line was with him. Osi had nine sacks in just nine games during the regular season. In addition, he caused numerous game-changing force fumbles.

The guy can still play at a very high level when he's healthy and the numbers don't lie. Every fan who follows the team pretty much knows that Osi and Jerry Reese don't have the best of business relationships, but Osi has said that he wants to stay a Giant. Hopefully they can work something out. As a New York Giants fan, I hope the front office brings those two core players back next season in defense of the Superbowl title. If they do, we will have a very good chance to make another as champions again.

Since we're picking last in each round, would "1st, 2nd or 3rd round tender" players from other teams be an option this year?

This is my first FanPost, but I've been a long time reader. Since I'm in Arizona and usually don't get to wear my blue and view the Big Blue View until the late evening hours long after most lines of discussion are 'put to bed' so to speak I've been enjoying the dialog mostly in silence. Since there has been spirited conversation about available free agents, and the related salary cap issues, as well as what our "needs" for the draft are (and of course the BPA v. "needs" debate), I just wanted to pose a slightly different question for my fellow Big Blue Crew: Is there anyone available as a Restricted Free Agent that might be worth trading a draft pick for? Whether its Pittsburgh's Mike Wallace (WR) for a first round pick, just to get the conversation started, or some of the 2nd or 3rd round tenders available is there anyone out there the lower case ny should be looking at ? The fact that we won SB46 gives us the last pick in each round (plus the compensatory picks of course), so we'd be giving up the last pick in any round for the player which seems like it might be a good return for the value. If a player is deemed a "2nd round talent" for example it probably doesn't mean that he is worth the last pick in that round, but that is exactly what we'd be giving up in return. Of course we'd still have the salary cap issues but we'd be replacing a contract for a draft pick's contract so it could work, perhaps with a little creativity. I have confidence in JR and co. so if they see a player they really want they could make it happen. The question for you today as we approach the start of free agency tomorrow is is there anyone we should be interested in as a restricted free agent?

SBNation NFC East Predictions (PARTICIPATE)

Hey guys, Matt here from the Falcoholic. I'm going to be posting a question like this on all the SB Sites so I can create a giant, fan made, NFL prediction thing.I'm doing it by division so whatever team is in what ever division will get their post accordingly. I'm going to leave a prediction for all the divisions but I'm counting what you guys say. There will be a poll at the bottom and the poll will have every single possible record for your team, please participate and choose what you think. Please also leave a comment saying what you think the division standings will be. Thank you all and please participate, Hogs Haven, BTB, BGN, and BBV. Finally, please tell me if you want me to post the final results on this site later.

LaMichael James

Because of our well documented salary cap issues, it is unlikely that the Giants will try to sign a FA running back this off-season. With the departure of Brandon Jacobs, combined with the knowledge that JR wont use a high pick on a running back, would LaMichael James make sense in the middle of the draft? For what its worth he was very productive at Oregon (over five thousand yards, 6.6 YPC, 53 TD), and would create better competition at camp between him, Scott, Ware, and Brown. What do ya'll think?

Steve Smith vs Mario Manningham

Steve Smith or Mario Mannningham? Who would be more valuable if they were on the giants in 2012 playing outside receiver and why? Keep in mind this is for outside receiver so can Smith be as eeffective on the outside as he was in the slot?

If that kid Hill WR from Georgia Tech is the real deal WR at 6'4' with a 4.36 40 we should grab him. Cruz, Hakeem and Hill OMG with Ballard or maybe adding Dallas Clark. Anyone know if Hill is a stud receiver in the makings?

Free Agent Running Back Possibilities

With the release of Brandon Jacobs, I came to thinking about the Giants running back situation, and who should we go after to compliment Bradshaw and fill a need on our team. Does Big Blue have the answer in D.J. Ware, Da'Rel Scott, or Andre Brown who only have 88 career carries between them? Scott's speed presents the best upside of the three and Ware was a decent, if unspectacular option in limited playing time. I came across a decent article on sbnation. Link is here: http://www.sbnation.com/2012-nfl-free-agency/2012/3/2/2836438/nfl-free-agency-2012-running-backs

There's alot of decent options on the list, which no doubt contributed to the release of Jacobs (this and his contract vs. cap situation). It just made business sense to let Jacobs go. The market is full of players a team like the Giants could benefit from. We could probably erase Peyton Hillis and Michael Bush off the list, because they would command too high of a price. Ditto on BenJarvis Green-Eliis and Cedric Benson (I wouldn't want Benson anyway, very one dimentional and huge character issues) Giants just got under the cap, and have too many holes to fill to spend it all on one person. Basically they would be looking for someone to come in for a year or two contract, veterans minimum to about 800k per year. This would probably rule out Mike Tolbert, although I would love to see the big bruiser softening up the defense for Bradshaw. Another bruiser on the list is Le'ron McClain, but his strength is when he's lined up as a fullback. He's a great run blocker, but thats about it at this point. He hardly had any carries last year despite injuries in KC's backfield. Not mentioned in the post were two recently cut RB's: Clinton Portis and Joseph Addai. Considering their proneness for injury (Portis missed 27 games in last 5 years, Addai missed 17 games in last 4 years) I wouldn't touch either. Kevin Smith falls in this category as well.

So far from the list sbnation posted, it doesn't seem like theres any good fit for the Giants. Again, I would absolutely LOVE Tolbert, but can't see it happening because of the cap. All is not lost from that list, however two name stick out to me, Ryan Grant being one of them. I immediately thought back to 2007, when the Giants traded him to Green Bay and Grant finished out the last 10 games of the season with 929 yds and 8 TD's. He then followed that up with back to back 1200 yd seasons. An early season ankle injury derailed his 2010 season and it didnt seem like he was 100% recovered from it last year. The market for Grant's services are slim and his future is dimming. He will be 30 years old in December and will be playing for his NFL career this year. He could be had for very cheap and with another year removed from his ankle injury could prove a valuable asset for our backfield, backing up Bradshaw. The other player that sparks my interest is Justin Forsett. The biggest reasons I like him is that he's young (will be 27 years old in October) and his legs should be very fresh considering that the last 2 years his main role has been very similar to his days at Cal: backup Marshawn Lynch. If anything, Forsett is a good backup and for this his pricetag will be right on line to what the Giants are looking to spend.

Of course the other point of view is to forget all these guys, roll with what we have and draft a RB in this years draft. There could be some very solid backs available to us. Va tech's David Wilson has been speculated to us at pick 32. Lamar Miller or Doug Martin could fall to us in the 2nd. LaMichael James or Chris Polk could be available in the 3rd. I also like Temple's Bernard Pierce who looks like he could turn into a very good goaline back in the 4th. The way I see it, is you can still draft a RB, but some serious thought should be put into bringing in either Grant or Forsett. If there's one mantra in the NFL, it's "you can never have enough depth." Both of these backs would be a cheap signing, provide competition to Ware, Scott, and Brown for Bradshaw's backup and fill up the depth chart in case of injury.

Briggs for Umenyiora whisper

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1095501-nfl-rumors-10-whispers-that-may-have-some-validity#/articles/1095501-nfl-rumors-10-whispers-that-may-have-some-validity/page/2 From Bleacher Report Seen on BR, Briggs for Umenyiora trade rumor. Dont know the validity, or likelyhood; however both teams are likely to benefit from such a move. Trade malcontents, if you will. However, such a move will likely free up Reese to draft his customary DE with the Giant's first pick

Hey Ed, how about Chandler Jones?

I was going to ask our fearless leader or one of his lieutenants to do a draft profile on Chandler Jones. He was my favorite player for my a favorite college team, as he was by far the best performer on a team that started out wildly over-achieving, but ended up wildly under-achieving. Jones and the rest of Syracuse's draft hopefuls (mostly marginal except for Phil Thomas) had their pro day on Thursday. According to reports Jones, who performed well at the combine, improved on his performance in front of representatives from 31 teams. Afterwards, the Giants' rep came up to talk drafting history with Chan (basically that JPP was also a Big East player). The fact that the Giants rep was singled out as approaching Jones, plus the combination of player+ draft profile+ positional value immediately piqued my interest. I could do a draft summary on this guy, I've seen every one of his games at 'Cuse, but I'd like to see an unbiased view. He has athletic bloodlines (brothers Arthur and Jon "Bones"), and is a long, lean, fast player who can bull rush on occasion. He plays the run very well, but needs to diversify his pass rush arsenal. In other words, he exactly fits JR's drafting profile. So, what do you guys think? Would he be a good pick if he's still there at #32?

Poll
Would Chandler Jones of Syracuse be a good pick if available at number 32?
Yes, he fits the Giants defensive philosophy perfectly, and you can never have too many passrushers.

No, we have more obvious needs, NO MOAR DLINEMAN PLEEZ!

Doesn't matter what we think, JR has a track record and if this is the pick I'm going to look forward to his success a year or two from now.

Jacobs.

Jacobs is six foot four.
Two hundred and sixty five pounds.
A true Giant.
I can't even think of a linebacker that big.
Try and find me one.
It's not easy.
I remember one time Jacobs told that fat boy Rex Ryan to Shut the f--- up.
Hell, he even told Giselle to shut up.
And he always talked trash on the Cowboys.
Cause f--- the Cowboys.
Jacobs would say that.
I'd agree with him whole-heatedly.

Jacobs would get mad sometimes when we lost.
Real mad.
Throw his helmet into the stands mad.
I imagine I'd probably get that mad.
I'd probably get so mad I'd want to perform the following act to Charles Woodson so I could be happy at the Super Bowl:

I'd wanna make LaRon Landry an interesting talking point at my fancy dinner parties that I drive to in my fancy car:

Jacobs.
An unforgettable Giant.
A two time Super Bowl Champion.
A mother truckin' attitude.
How do you "next man up" that fire?
How do you next man up Brandon Jacobs?
