John Mara said that the New York Giants want their coaching situation resolved "sooner rather than later".
And while both Mara and GM Jerry Reese wouldn't comment Tuesday on their list of names to interview out of respect for Tom Coughlin, they haven't let the grass grow under their feet. Mara has already confirmed that both Ben McAdoo and Steve Spagnuolo will interview for the job. We now have word on their first external candidate.
Ian Rappaport has reported that the Giants have asked the Chicago Bears for permission to interview offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
The #Giants are moving fast on their interviews. They'll talk to Ben McAdoo & Spagnuolo. They've also just requested #Bears OC Adam Gase.

It seems inevitable that Gase will be a head coach somewhere in 2016. The Giants are one of the several teams that have requested interviews with the Bears' OC. The Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, and Cleveland Browns have all expressed interest in the popular young coordinator.
Gase, 37, is credited with Jay Cutler's improved play this year and has garnered rave reviews from Peyton Manning during his two seasons as the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator.
