UPDATE 3:26 p.m.: The Giants have now made the re-signing of Justin Currie official.
---
Last week the New York Giants waived wide receiver Marcus Harris and undrafted free agent safety Justin Currie when they signed veteran safety Jeromy Miles.
Thursday morning, Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com reported that the Giants are re-signing the rookie safety out of Western Michigan. Like most of the Giants' safeties, Currie is a big one (6-2, 215), and he flashed during the Giants' offseason program.
With offensive tackle Troy Kropog having been put on the reserve / physically unable to perform list back in April, the Giants still have an open roster spot.
As of this writing, the move hasn't been made official by the Giants organization, though it is curious that the Giants would waive an undrafted free agent to open a roster spot, then re-sign him a week later to fill that same roster spot. Though we might never know the full story, it could be that another free agent move was in the works, but fell through.
