New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford stopped working out long enough to make the media rounds on Friday, and during his visit with WFAN Weatherford took some shots at the Philadelphia Eagles.
From NJ Advance Media:
"I'm the biggest Tim Tebow fan in the world," he said. "I mean, who wouldn't want their daughter to date a guy like that? I'll tell you want, I don't want him taking snaps for my team."
Then he broke out the car metaphors for the rest of the Eagles quarterbacks.
"I'm gonna give you a Ferrari that maybe won't be running all the time, or I'm giving you a nice Cadillac sedan," he said. "It's not the fastest but you know what you're going to get out of it."
Who's the Cadillac? You guessed it, Mark Sanchez.
"[Sam] Bradford can go zero to 60 in three seconds," he added. "But you don't know if he's going to start up some days."
Shots fired! Maybe Weatherford shouldn't have gone there -- we know a certain head coach who won't be thrilled when he hears about the remarks. But, hey, we need things to write about on a Saturday. So, thanks Steve!
Weatherford also had some things to say about the Giants.
On the upcoming season ...
"I'm incredibly optimistic. I'm excited because this is an important year for us ... this is an important year for us as a franchise to get back in the mix."
On Odell Beckham ...
"I'm incredibly impressed with the way he's handled his success on the field and off the field. ... I think the media's kind of reading into the comments. It's football. We're going to give everybody a hard time, I don't care if you're the greatest wide receiver in the game or you're a practice squad guy. Everybody's gonna get it."
Your favorite punter also participated in a program to promote cat adoptions, and played in a charity softball game.
