Defensive tackle Markus Kuhn, offensive tackle Ereck Flowers and defensive end George Selvie all left Monday's game with injuries. All three, along with linebacker Devon Kennard, will not practice today when the Giants begin their preparations for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Kuhn has a knee injury, Selvie a concussion and Flowers left the game when his previously injured left ankle gave out. Kennard (hamstring/foot) has missed the last two games. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday that Kennard will not play this week.
The foot injury seems to be the primary issue for Kennard, who was still wearing a walking boot last week. The second-year linebacker from USC came to the Giants with a lengthy injury history, and that has borne out. He played in only 12 games last season and has already missed three this year.
If Kuhn and Selvie can't play that would leave the Giants short-handed along their already thin defensive line. If Flowers can't play that would once again force juggling on the Giants' offensive line.
Safety Brandon Meriweather, who has missed two games with a knee injury, was released on Wednesday amidst reports that the Giants are signing defensive tackle Barry Cofield.
