Crank up the pre-2015 NFL Draft hysteria meter, New York Giants fans. Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper, considered a lock to be a top 10 pick, has visited with the Giants. That news according to a report in the National Football Post.
Cooper is considered the top wide receiver in this draft class by most analysts. The common belief is that with questions about Victor Cruz' recovery from a torn patellar tendon and Jerry Reese's obvious love for play-makers, particularly wide receiver, that the Giants would draft Cooper if he is available.
It would, however, be a stunner if Cooper falls that far. Aaron Wilson reported for the NFP that Cooper has visited with every team selecting in the top 10 except the Oakland Raiders. And that doesn't mean the Raiders would not be interested if Cooper is available to them at No. 4.
In his prospect profile of Cooper, 'Invictus' called him "one of the top five talents in this draft." Tony Pauline of Draft Insider has him ranked as the No. 2 player in the draft He writes:
Cooper makes it look effortless and consistently found ways to produce despite the fact he is often double teamed. He's not a true deep threat but possesses the skill and athleticism to line up as a #1 receiver for a variety of offensive schemes and can be deadly running after the catch.
