The New York Giants today added two new players, veteran defensive end Israel Idonije and undrafted free agent tight end Jerome Cunningham. They take the roster spots of David Wilson, on IR because of his neck injury, and rookie defensive end Kendrick Adams, who was waived.
Idonije, 33, played nine seasons with the Chicago Bears and played last season with the Detroit Lions. From 2010-2012 Idonije had 20.5 sacks for the Bears. He played 15 games before finishing the season IR with a neck injury. Idonije has played 149 career regular-season games and has 29 career sacks. Cunningham caught 61 passes in four seasons at Southern Connecticut State University.
The Giants will practice from 5:40 - 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Former Giants Shaun O'Hara, Deon Grant, David Diehl and Kareem McKenzie will be available to sign autographs during practice. Thursday's practice will be closed to the public. The Giants will be off on Friday and will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in their second preseason game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
